Missed call text-back for n8n with Twilio, a Google Sheets call log and one follow-up text
I built this for a missed Twilio call: the caller gets a text with your booking link within seconds and the call lands in your Google Sheet. If nobody books, one nudge follows. A daily digest at 08:00 shows who booked.

About this app
Trades and clinics miss calls while everyone is on a job, so I made this for them. It does not answer calls and has no voice AI. It sends a quick text and keeps a clean record in Google Sheets. What it does - Texts the caller your booking link when Twilio reports a missed call, a busy line or a voicemail. Calls after closing time get different wording that says when you open. - Logs every call in a Calls tab in your Google Sheet and emails you about it. - Sends one nudge after a few hours if the caller has not booked or replied, only inside your sending window. - Closes the call when your booking tool posts to the booking webhook. The link carries a short ref, so that exact call is closed. - Emails you each reply. Replies with words like burst, leak or emergency are flagged urgent, and you can edit that word list. - Records STOP and never texts that caller again. It never texts the same call twice and skips repeat callers, withheld numbers and numbers on your ignore list. - Marks texts that never arrived when you turn on Twilio delivery receipts. - Emails you once about any texted caller nobody has rung back after two hours, while you are open. - Writes failed Google Sheets steps to an Errors tab as well as emailing you. - Sends a daily digest at 08:00: who was missed, who booked, who is still open and the week's booking rate. Safe by default: it refuses to run while your name, email or booking link is still a placeholder, and every webhook needs your secret key. It starts in preview mode, so every text lands in your own inbox until you switch sending on. What you receive - 1-missed-call-textback.json (60 working nodes) and 2-daily-digest.json (10 working nodes), credentials removed - README.md: credentials, sheet columns, Twilio setup for call forwarding or voicemail, a seven-step test plan with curl examples, every setting, and known limits - sample-calls-sheet.csv with the Calls tab headers - code-nodes/: read-only .js copies of the 14 Code nodes, so you can review the logic before importing. What you need to run it - n8n, cloud or self-hosted. Workflow 1 needs 1.102.0 or later, workflow 2 needs 1.59.0 or later. - A Twilio account with an SMS-capable number. Another provider works if it can post the caller number and call outcome to a webhook and you swap in its SMS node. - Gmail OAuth2 and Google Sheets OAuth2 credentials. No AI key is needed. - Texts cost whatever Twilio charges. In the US, Twilio requires A2P 10DLC registration before business texts are delivered. Fields you edit: the placeholders in the Your Settings node, which hold your contact details, booking link, Twilio number and webhook secret, then the sheet URL in the Google Sheets nodes, your timezone, and your credentials. Setup time: the n8n side is the placeholders, three credentials and one sheet. Twilio number approval is the slow part and runs on Twilio's timeline. Tested: the Code node logic passes 54 offline checks and both workflows pass n8n's workflow validator. An earlier 47-node version ran on n8n on 26 Oct with simulated Twilio, Gmail and Google Sheets responses. The current version has not been re-run end to end, and no real text has been sent, so start in preview mode. What it does not do - No voice agent, transcription or text conversation. - No Twilio signature check. The webhook key is a shared secret, so keep the addresses private. - Withheld numbers cannot be texted. They are logged and shown in the digest. - Bookings close rows only if your booking tool posts the phone number or the ref. - Urgent detection matches your word list only. - No WhatsApp, calendar booking or CRM sync.
